10 Reasons To Go Vegan

Why go vegan / plant based?

Its easy to see why veganism is growing all over the planet. When you see images like the above it causes us to recognize the bigger deeper picture. We are all here sharing this beautiful earth together. It looks alot like the earth we wish to have. No suffering or cruelty.

1) For the Animals
Animal agriculture is cruel and horrific. From the cages they live in, to the transport and to the actual kill. There’s nothing humane about slaughter. Animals are sensitive and intelligent – no different than cats or dogs. They feel pain just like we do.

2) Animal products are filthy
Did you know that when you eat meat, eggs and dairy you are consuming hormones, dioxins, bacteria, antibiotics and acidic mucus forming foods that are known to be carcinogenic to humans. Butchers will tell you that they have to cut out tumors of these animals because they live in such horrific conditions. Most factory farmed animals live in their own feces. Also, the use of more and more pharmaceuticals on factory farms has created antiobiotic resistant “super bacteria”. Even so called “organic” meat is not clean.

3) Water use
8 billion animals are killed in the US alone and half the water used in the country is for the purpose of raising animals and slaughtering them. One pound of beef equals 1,800 gallons of water used.  Going plant based could save 724,000 gallons of water per person per year. Imagine the benefit to the planet of not eating animals, based on this factor alone!

4) Happiness
Most people experience a boost in their mood almost immediately after choosing a plant based diet.  The “American Journal of Health Promotion” recently promoted a study sharing that those who switched to a vegan diet had improvements in symptoms of anxiety and depression. Why would this be? Consider the idea that the energy of the animals that are being eaten have been suffering their whole lives – this suffering is in the meat that is eaten.  If you eat a meal without suffering, you are much less likely to suffer too! Yay for happiness!!!

5) Saving the Rainforests
Animal agriculture is responsible for 91% of the destruction of the Amazon rainforest, which is vital to the Earth’s ecosystem.  If you want to save the Amazon and the rainforest, choose fruit and veggies instead of meat on your plate!

6) Its An Exciting Change
With so many plant-based options in grocery stores and restaurants, it is an exciting time to try NEW THINGS! I went vegan in 2020 and discovered a variety of new foods that I was not using before. I even bought myself a plant milk maker and I absolutely LOVE IT! I feel more in charge of my health and my ability to make quality clean food in my own kitchen.

7) Its Cheaper
A lot of people think that somehow it is more expensive to be vegan – plant based, than it is to be an omnivore. Nothing can be further from the truth. If you are eating only processed food, it will always be more expensive, no matter what diet you’re on. But if you choose a whole food plant based diet, you will save hundreds of dollars a month. Dry beans are cheap and easy to prepare. Dry grains are also reasonably priced. You can make your own flours, your own milks and so much more! Its fun for everyone.

8) End World Hunger
Did you know that 82% of children who live near livestock are starving?  That livestock goes to first world countries for food to eat. What if going vegan could end world hunger? Would you be interested in helping that cause? Think of how many crops are grown just to feed animals. We could feed the world easily with this simple shift.

9) Avoid heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other health issues
Heart disease continues to be the #1 cause of death worldwide. Each year, 659,000 people die in the USA alone and 18.6 million die of heart disease world wide.  Heart attacks and strokes are common with heart disease. If it doesn’t kill you, it could maim you and cause more problems in the future. A vegan diet will reverse type 2 diabetes.  Don’t you think your health is worth it?

10) There is NO NEED to eat animal products
Unless you live in the desert with the African bushmen or live on the tops of icy mountains in Nepal, chances are you have access to all the best vegetables and fruit. It is an old custom to eat meat and is ultimately a cruel act.  Also, dairy from cows is better for baby cows than it is for humans. All dairy milk is mucus forming and can cause numerous health problems from chronic bronchial infections to skin problems and so much more.

“The best part of being a vegan is the purity and peace of mind one experiences and the strong connection I feel to the animal kingdom.”
-Uri Geller.

“Veganism is not a sacrifice. It is a joy.”
-Gary L. Francione.

“An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.”
-Martin Buber
